Old Factory Getaway Cabin
214-957-0454 or 214-957-6144
Found at the end of Old Factory Site Rd just a few minutes drive from downtown Murfreesboro, offers a secluded cabin on the banks of the Little Missouri River.
The "Old Factory Site" refers to a water driven mill that was located just upstream from the cabin in the mid 1800's and for a while there was a bit of a community, then known as Royston, at the site. The huge timber grid of the mill's 160+ year old foundation can still be seen in the stream-bed a short walk away!
Open year round, you can come to The Old Factory Site to enjoy the fall colors or the excellent trout fishing on the river from October to June, visit the Crater of Diamonds or Lake Greeson (both just ten minutes away) or maybe just watch the woods and wildlife. There are countless folks who caught their first trout or had their first fly fishing experience right here!
DO BE AWARE! That the river can fluctuate as much as six feet when there are water releases from Narrows Dam upstream. The river at minimum flow is quiet and docile, but when high water hits it will be raging white water in about twenty minutes! And even though there are rarely water releases on weekends that is not guaranteed, so beware to stay close to the cabin's side of the river.
However, if you are white water enthusiasts - THIS IS your place to stay! A large rock out cropping at the cabin makes a perfect backwater take-out point!
The cabin sits high on the rocky bank with a large shaded deck facing the water and dense woods! On the deck you will find a BBQ grill and porch swing to relax in while the river flows below.
Inside is room to sleep six, upstairs and down, with a separate bedroom downstairs, pull-out sleeper sofa and two baths. A full kitchen with ceramic counter-tops, refrigerator, JennAir stove, microwave and coffee maker! You'll also find satellite and a flat screen TV.
